Incorporating Tech Use into Treatment

This presentation covers the importance of incorporating the use of technology and screens into our assessment and treatment of children, teens, and young adults. These populations spend tremendous amounts of their lives before screens which we know have a powerful effect on multiple clinical issues, including depression, attention, learning difficulties, addiction, and family conflict. Focus on assessment and treatment of problematic social media, video game, and phone overuse.

Course Objectives

  1. To recognize the importance of considering kids’ and young adults’ screen and tech use in assessment and treatment.
  2. To discuss how kids’ and young adults’ overuse of screens and tech is impacting their emotional health and well-being.
  3. To reference tools to assess for screen or tech problems in clinical practice.
  4. To explain effective means or preventing and treatment screen- and tech-related issues in practice.

Kaiser Permanente Northern California Mental Health Training Program maintains responsibility for this program and its content. The California Board of Behavioral Sciences recognizes the California Psychological Association’s continuing education credits for use by their licensees.

Refund and Attendance Policy

All programs offered on KP Learn for CE credit through the KP Northern California Mental Health Training website are free of charge to Kaiser Permanente Staff and trainees. Once a course is selected in the KP NCAL MH Training Website, the registration process begins, and it will appear in the individuals KP Learn profile for completion within 90 days.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Those who attend the program in full and complete the appropriate evaluation form will receive CE credits. Please note that credit will only be granted to those who attend the entire program. An attestation of attendance will be given once the individual has completed viewing the program, which will then initiate the final steps of completing the evaluation forms to receive a certificate of completion.
