The Regional Associate Program (RAP), led by Dr. Maryam Hafezi, is a cornerstone of the Mental Health Training Collaborative (MHTC), thoughtfully designed to cultivate confident, capable, and well‑supported mental health clinicians across our medical centers.
RAP delivers high‑quality, structured clinical supervision to associate clinicians, supporting their successful transition to full licensure as Kaiser Permanente mental health professionals. Through intentional supervision, focused skill development, and consistent mentorship, the program strengthens clinical judgment, reinforces ethical practice, and promotes the delivery of safe, compassionate, and patient‑centered care.
The program continues to grow in response to workforce needs. To date, 39 clinical supervisors have been hired, supporting behavioral health services across the region. This growth reflects RAP’s role as a critical workforce development pathway for developing a sustainable and highly skilled mental health workforce.
More than a training initiative, RAP is a long‑term investment—in people, in quality outcomes, and in the future of behavioral health care. By strengthening today’s workforce, we are intentionally shaping the clinicians who will lead and sustain care for years to come.
