South Bay Consortium consists of both Santa Clara and San Jose Medical Centers. The Kaiser Santa Clara Homestead Site is located near the Kaiser Santa Clara Medical Center established in 1984, as one of the first Regional Kaiser Permanente Medical Center facilities in the Bay Area.

The Kaiser Permanente Santa Clara and San Jose Medical Centers provide high quality medical and psychiatric health care to nearly 300,000 members in Northern California.

The Santa Clara Medical Center includes the following satellite clinics: Campbell, Milpitas, Mountain View, and Skyport/San Jose.

The San Jose Medical Center includes the following clinics: Gilroy, San Jose, Santa Cruz, Scotts Valley, and Watsonville.

The San Francisco Bay Area is a geographically and ethnically diverse area with amazing natural resources, incredible intellectual resources, and dynamic human resources.

The Kaiser Permanente South Bay Consortium offers cutting-edge training in a supportive and warm environment. Our staff are open-minded, well versed in the latest evidence-based treatment modalities and encourage all of our trainees to contribute to a culture of growth and learning. Practicum students are made to feel welcome and are truly valued as part of our team. We provide a lot of support and structure so that everyone can learn in our fast-paced integrated healthcare environment.

Our staff consists of a vibrant mix of psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, marriage and family therapists, postdoctoral residents, and practicum students. In addition to individual psychotherapy and medication management, our clinic hosts over 60 groups each week for various populations and presenting problems (examples include Depression, PTSD, DBT, Bipolar, Anxiety, Insomnia, Mindfulness, and much more!). Clinical Service Opportunities

Practicum students will be expected to engage in a range of services offered at the Adult Psychiatry Department, including providing individual and group psychotherapy, brief case management, staff consultations and care coordination across multiple psychiatric and medical providers.

Practicum students will engage in a range of services offered in the Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Department, including providing individual, family and group therapy, brief case management, staff consultations and care coordination.

Coordinating care with a multidisciplinary team of psychiatric and medical providers is essential to providing excellent patient care.

Practicum students will also learn to assess clinical crisis and apply risk management techniques as needed.

Our Embedded BMS Providers are truly integrated into the medical setting in both specialty and primary care services as well as Hospital Based work.

This integrated team works closely with the multidisciplinary teams across the departments in medical clinics.

Furthermore, practicum students are part of our ADHD clinic and may be part of groups and services within our Pediatric Gender Clinic. Medical Departments includes Cardiology, Lifestyle Medicine, Oncology, Consult Liaison, Neurology, GI, Primary Care, Endocrinology and more.

Practicum students will be expected to engage in a range of services offered in the BMS Pediatric Department, including providing individual and group psychotherapy, brief case management, staff consultations and care coordination across multiple psychiatric and medical providers.

Our Embedded BMS Providers are truly integrated into the medical setting in both specialty and primary care services as well as Hospital Based work. This integrated team works closely with the multidisciplinary teams across the departments in medical clinics.

In Adult and Family Medicine, our providers are a large part of our primary care and OBGYN clinics providing Consultation, Brief Intervention and Treatment. In addition to Primary Care, there are opportunities for experience and exposure to Lifestyle Medicine, Oncology, Consult Liaison, Neurology, Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant and multidisciplinary teams to support Complex Chronic Conditions and IPV.

Practicum students will be expected to engage in a range of services offered in the BMS Adult Department, including providing individual and group psychotherapy, brief case management, staff consultations and care coordination across multiple psychiatric and medical providers.

Schedule

Direct Patient Care: 8-13 hours (varies by position)
