I have deep gratitude for my training in the Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Training Program. I completed my internship at Kaiser Permanente, Fresno in adult services and went on to complete my post-doctoral residency at Kaiser Permanente, Richmond. I was thrilled to take a full-time position at the KP Richmond Psychiatry clinic following my residency and practiced for 8 years in adult services, Intensive Outpatient Program and Behavioral Medicine. At Richmond I had the opportunity to be a part of the Dialectical Behavioral Therapy team and to help develop cultural and linguistic responsive services through the La Clinica de Kaiser program. I also had the pleasure of being a supervisor and training director to many predoctoral and postdoctoral interns which cemented my passion for teaching and training. In 2021, I had the incredible opportunity to join the founding faculty in the Master of Science in Counseling (MSC) program at the Kaiser School of Allied Health Sciences in Richmond, CA where I continue to teach and train today. It is my honor to help raise the next generation of mental health clinicians!

I started my journey with Kaiser Permanente in 2006 as a Postdoctoral Resident at the San Rafael Chemical Dependency Program. I continued my career at Kaiser Permanente as an eating disorder specialist for several years before I joined the Behavioral Medicine team in Napa Solano. Currently, I am the manager of the Behavioral Medicine team and have an active role in the training program. In my role as a clinician supervisor, I get to train and support new students and also connect with and learn from other clinical supervisors. These relationships and connections are invaluable and being a part of the training program is a highlight of my work.

My journey with Kaiser began as a postdoctoral fellow in the Child/Family and Adult Track at Kaiser Fremont. I then transitioned to a staff psychologist role, where I took on various responsibilities, including DBT Coordinator, Triage Clinician, Initial Assessment Coordinator, Wellness Committee Coordinator, Clinical Supervisor, and IOP Manager. Currently, I serve as a Clinical Supervisor on the Mental Health Training Team, where I wear many hats: Training Director for Beginning Practicum Externs, Facilitator and Clinical Supervisor for the Peripartum Mood & Anxiety Group, MATCH Facilitator, Regional Didactic Seminar Instructor, and Clinical Supervisor in the Santa Clara region. I am incredibly grateful for the training I received at Kaiser and am eager to continue giving back in my role as a clinical supervisor.

I completed my externship in Kaiser Department of Psychiatry in Orange County, my predoctoral internship in Kaiser Psychiatry and Addiction Medicine in San Diego and my postdoctoral fellowship in Kaiser Psychiatry San Francisco. My training was excellent. It included working with patients across all ages, doing evidence based individual therapy, couples therapy, neuropsychological testing, autism evaluations, on call crisis, intensive outpatient therapy, Behavioral Medicine rotation, and providing chemical dependency services. I am currently Mental Health Director in San Francisco. I am grateful for my excellent training as it has been a foundation on which my leadership has been built.

I am deeply grateful for the training with KP Northern California Postdoctoral Training Program. It has connected me with colleagues in the field, expanded my expertise and provided me with an exceptional opportunity for personal and professional growth. I completed the specialty training program in Addiction and Recovery Medicine and went on to serve as a staff therapist in Adult Psychiatry with a focus on treating trauma, life transitions associated with aging, and other psychiatric concerns. I stayed connected to the training program by serving as a supervisor and ultimately managing the training program at Santa Clara Kaiser. The investment the training program made in my professional development and connecting me to other KP clinicians, afforded me with an opportunity to transition to clinic management and other leadership positions.

I’m grateful for the exceptional training and supervision provided by the Kaiser Permanente Northern California Mental Health Training Program. The postdoctoral residency program expanded my clinical knowledge and skills in child/adolescent mental health and pediatric health psychology. Following the completion of residency, I was fortunate to obtain a position in pediatrics at Kaiser, where I’ve provided pediatric health psychology services for more than 10 years. This foundation and experiences have afforded me opportunities in leadership and regional committees, increasing access to mental health care, and most importantly, improving patient care for our members.
