Who we are
The Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Training Program offers future-focused, integrative training within a large multidisciplinary healthcare system. Trainees gain experience across a wide range of clinical settings and learn innovative, evidence-based approaches that reflect the latest trends and advancements in mental health and healthcare delivery.
Our career pathways
Kaiser Permanente’s Mental Health Training Program (MHTP) offers a full continuum of training programs at the premaster, postmaster, predoctoral, and postdoctoral levels. As the largest non-governmental mental health training program in the U.S., MHTP supports over 300 trainees annually across 21 Northern California medical centers and a virtual counseling center. Doctoral Internship and Postdoctoral Residency programs are APA-accredited or in the process of accreditation (with the exception of Neuropsychology Postdoctoral Residencies, which are APPIC members). All programs are grounded in a regionally coordinated, evidence-based training model that ensures consistency while supporting site-specific specialization.
