Presenter Bio

Dr. Devane received her B.A. in psychology from the University of California, Santa Cruz, her M.A. in psychology from Boston University, and her Ph.D. in clinical psychology specializing in trauma from the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. She completed her doctoral internship at Kaiser, Fresno and her postdoctoral residency at Kaiser, Vallejo. Currently she provides evidence-based treatments for PTSD to adults on the trauma team at Kaiser, Fairfield, and is the co-training director for the NSA internship program.

This course will train providers how to implement cognitive processing therapy for the treatment of posttraumatic stress disorder. It will review the theoretical model of cognitive processing therapy, structure of treatment, and how to address common concerns and dilemmas. Integration of different diversity factors into treatment will be discussed.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

  1. Describe the theoretical underpinning of cognitive processing therapy.
  2. Understand how to practically implement the treatment.
  3. Understand how to effectively modify cognitive processing therapy within fidelity to the model.
  4. Discuss how to integrate diversity factors into the treatment model.
