Presenter Bio

Bruce Chorpita, Ph.D. currently holds the position of Professor of Psychology, at the University of California, Los Angeles. He received his Ph.D. in psychology from the University at Albany, State University of New York. Dr. Chorpita is widely published in the areas of children’s mental health services, and he has held research and training grants from the National Institute of Mental Health, the Hawaii Departments of Education and Health, the John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation, the Annie E. Casey Foundation, and the William T. Grant Foundation. Dr. Chorpita co-founded PracticeWise out of a commitment to making knowledge and science work better to improve the lives of children and families. He currently serves as a Board member to PracticeWise.

Adam Bernstein, Ph.D has led PracticeWise technology operations for over a decade and provides leadership and management for clinical products. He received a Ph.D. in clinical psychology from UCLA and a coterminal B.A. in computer science and M.A. in psychology from Stanford University. This dual clinical and technical expertise makes him well-suited to build and communicate the applied tools of clinical science, moving from the data bits to the training room and administrative consultation. His research has focused on helping service systems inform selection of evidence-based treatments to benefit as many youths and families as possible in their unique local service populations.

This course is designed to help you learn, recognize, identify and understand the Modular Approach to Therapy for Children with Anxiety, Depression, Trauma or Conduct Problems (MATCH) and includes an online demonstration of the MATCH protocol. The course will also include a history of MATCH and its development, and how MATCH is a system to allow individualized application of procedures curated from multiple experts.

Course Objectives

At the conclusion of this course, participants will be able to:

Explain the design and rationale for MATCH, including advantages to using a modular system for clinical care
Explain what MATCH is and how it differs from typical evidence-based protocols
Identify how MATCH provides improved services to youths and their families
Identify the MATCH resources, including the different parts of the therapy modules and flowcharts, as well as the types of supplemental materials available
Identify how comorbidity and interference can be addressed with MATCH

All programs offered on KP Learn for CE credit through the KP Northern California Mental Health Training website are free of charge to Kaiser Permanente Staff and trainees. Once a course is selected in the KP NCAL MH Training Website, the registration process begins, and it will appear in the individuals KP Learn profile for completion within 90 days.

IMPORTANT NOTICE: Those who attend the program in full and complete the appropriate evaluation form will receive CE credits. Please note that credit will only be granted to those who attend the entire program. An attestation of attendance will be given once the individual has completed viewing the program, which will then initiate the final steps of completing the evaluation forms to receive a certificate of completion.
