One of the richest opportunities to enhance the mental health training experience in the EID space is now available. Every year the Mental Health Training Department solicits applications to serve as one of our “Justice, Equity, Inclusion, and Diversity (EID) Trainee-Liaisons (JEDI-TLs). Last year our liaisons ran our EID Consult Hours for fellow trainees, consulted on ways to better infuse EID values into our didactic program, completed a research project on the impact of EID training on the experience of trainees in the clinics, and provided supervision and support for our KP Launch summer high school interns in three psychiatry clinics. At least one of those JEDI-TLs described the experience as one of the highlights of her training year.
Prospective JEDI-TLs should be aware that there is an application and an interview process, and typically we have more applicants than space available. A link to The Call for Applications is attached below and was also recently emailed to every full-time trainee.
While this is an unpaid position, time spent in the JEDI-TL program will satisfy required Community Partnership and Research hours. There will be a one hour meeting every other week, in addition to time spent on various projects. Written approval from Training Manager and Training Director is required of each JEDI-TL before selections can be finalized.
The application deadline is Friday, September 27, 2024 @ 5:00 pm. Applications can be completed at: https://forms.office.com/r/bq8rmL8BMz (must access from a KP device and Ping ID required if remote).
Contact Dr. Aubyn Fulton, Clinical Supervisor (Psychologist) MHTP and EID Officer, if you have any questions.
If you have a passion for JEDI issues, please consider applying. We would love to include you on our team!
