Starting in January 2025, the Northern California Mental Health Training program will offer Masters-level trainees the opportunity to join the Gender Health Competency Training. This 6-month long didactic series will cover topics such as gender health fundamentals, the rich history of the trans and gender-diverse community globally, key terminology in the field, provider cultural self-awareness skills and gender-affirming psychotherapy techniques. This specialty training is geared towards trainees with a passion for LGBTQ+ issues and empowerment, or those wanting to build competency working with this population. Trainees will also have a chance to apply their skills and knowledge with trans and gender-diverse patients during the course of the training program. Guest speakers will enhance the learning experience, as well.
This training will occur on Mondays from 2-4PM, with the exclusion of KP holidays. Didactics will occur from January to late July 2025.
Applications for the program are due December 6th, 2024, with acceptance announcements made Friday, December 13th. Please consult with your Training Director(s) and Clinical Supervisor to ensure you are eligible to apply to a specialty training prior to applying.
