Kaiser Permanente’s Mental Health Training Program: Leading the Way in Mental Health Training

Kaiser Permanente’s Mental Health Training Program (MHTP) stands as the largest non-governmental training program in the United States, a testament to our unwavering commitment to mental health education and professional development. Our program’s reputation continues to flourish, as evidenced by the remarkable success of our Associate Postmaster Mental Health Fellowship (PMF) informational sessions.

Each year, we host numerous information sessions tailored for master’s and doctoral level students, providing them with invaluable insights into our fellowship opportunities. The interest in PMF positions has seen an unprecedented surge, reflecting the growing recognition of our program’s excellence. In 2024, we had 60 students register for the info sessions, with 46 attending. This year, 2025, has witnessed a significant rise, with 312 students registering and 209 attending. This dramatic increase in participation underscores the expanding appeal and credibility of our training program.

Currently, over 1,000 applications have been submitted across the MHTP locations throughout Northern California. This surge in applications is a testament to the continued hard work, support, and dedication of our leadership team. They have established a premier team for mental health training and continue to advance future-focused initiatives, ensuring that our program remains at the forefront of mental health education.

Our team’s vision and dedication have been instrumental in driving the success of MHTP. By continuously enhancing our training methodologies and expanding our reach, we ensure that our trainees are well-prepared to address the evolving challenges in the field of mental health. MHTP’s comprehensive approach to training, which integrates practical experience with theoretical knowledge, sets our program apart and positions our graduates for success in their professional careers.

Kaiser Permanente’s Northern California Mental Health Training Program is more than just a training initiative; it is a beacon of excellence in mental health education. As we look to the future, we remain committed to advancing our program and supporting the next generation of mental health professionals. Our success is a reflection of our dedication to quality, innovation, and the well-being of our trainees and the communities they serve.
