At Kaiser Permanente’s Mental Health Training Program, we are proud to highlight the talented trainees who bring passion, curiosity, and dedication to the field of mental health. This month, we are excited to feature Bianca Mogannam (she/her), a practicum trainee in Roseville, California (2025-26), who recently completed her training year as a doctoral student at Alliant University. Through her thoughtful approach to psychology, commitment to culturally responsive care, and passion for helping others navigate life’s challenges, Bianca is helping shape the future of behavioral health care. Her dedication to providing compassionate, evidence-based services and supporting the diverse communities served by Kaiser Permanente reflects the values that define our Mental Health Training Program.
What Inspired Bianca to Pursue Mental Health?
For Bianca, the journey into psychology began with a fascination for how people make sense of their emotional experiences.
“All stories start somewhere. When I think of mental health clinicians, I think of our role as translators. People experience grief, trauma, anxiety, and confusing emotional pain in ways that are difficult to put into words. Psychology is remarkable because it gives language to emotions that often feel impossible to hold.”
Bianca believes that understanding our emotions can transform what feels overwhelming into a source of growth and forward momentum. She views mental health care as a powerful and meaningful way to support individuals as they navigate life’s challenges and discover their own resilience.
Lessons Learned at Kaiser Permanente
During her training experience, Bianca has gained valuable insights that continue to shape her development as a clinician.
“Kaiser has taught me the value of patient-centered work, upholding the integrity of our field, and how to effectively communicate feedback in difficult situations.”
She credits Kaiser Permanente’s mentors, clinicians, and training teams for demonstrating how to see beyond diagnostic labels and recognize the complexity and uniqueness of each individual’s story.
Beyond the Classroom and Clinic
When she’s not immersed in graduate studies, Bianca enjoys a wide range of creative and outdoor activities. Describing herself as a “jack of some trades,” she spends her free time camping, paddleboarding, surfing, embroidering, brewing teas, making candles, baking focaccia, traveling, and reading fantasy novels whenever time permits.
Celebrating Culture and Community
As a Palestinian and Mexican woman, Bianca reflects deeply on the importance of cultural humility, curiosity, and attunement in clinical work.
“I am grateful to all of the clinicians who have emphasized cultural care and amplified community voices. You have paved the way for us budding clinicians.”
Her commitment to honoring diverse experiences and fostering meaningful connections exemplifies the values that strengthen our training community.
We are grateful to have Bianca as part of the Kaiser Permanente Mental Health Training Program and look forward to seeing the impact she will continue to make in the field of psychology.
Congratulations, Bianca, and thank you for sharing your story with us!
