Tues 4/18 at 1 PM: Career Panel and Q&A for Master’s Trainees

Post-master’s trainees are invited to sit in on a panel with four licensed masters-level clinicians, including LCSWs and LMFTs, who are pursuing various career paths. Panelists include both Kaiser Permanente clinicians as well as therapists at other companies and in private practice. In the first half hour, panelists will answer pre-prepared questions about their job responsibilities, career paths and trajectories, and offer advice to those interested in similar jobs. In the second half-hour, panelists will open up the event for trainee questions. Trainees are welcome to pre-submit questions to the Outreach and Wellness Liaisons, who will be moderating the discussion, or ask questions that emerge as they hear the panelists talk. Pre-masters interns who are curious about full-time employment possibilities down the road are also welcome to attend.

Tues 5/16 at 1 PM: Career Panel and Q&A for Doctoral Trainees

Postdoctoral residents are invited to sit in on a panel featuring four licensed psychologists pursuing various career paths. The panel will include Kaiser Permanente psychologists, as well as psychologists working at other companies or in private practice. In the first half hour, the panelists will answer pre-prepared questions about their job responsibilities, career paths and trajectories, and offer advice to those interested in similar jobs. In the second half-hour, panelists will open up the event for trainee questions. Trainees are welcome to pre-submit questions to the Outreach and Wellness Liaisons, who will be moderating the discussion, or ask questions that emerge as they hear the panelists talk. Practicum externs and doctoral interns who are curious about full-time employment possibilities down the road are also welcome to attend.

Tues 6/20 at 1 PM: Virtual Escape Room

Join us for a fun trainee wellness event, a virtual escape room! A company that specializes in virtual escape rooms will work with the liaisons to pick a theme for the escape room, and trainees in attendance will be divided into small teams with trainees from other sites in Northern California. The facilitator will give instructions on how to navigate the platform, and trainees will then work with their team to complete a series of puzzles and riddles to try to become the quickest team to “escape” the virtual detainment! This event provides a great opportunity to meet and bond with other trainees and practice teamwork and problem-solving under pressure. All members of the winning team will get to choose a Kaiser Permanente swag item to be mailed to them.

Tues 7/11 at 1 PM: Transitioning to Post Trainee Life: Tips for Lasting Professional Success

In this professional development event, the Outreach and Wellness Liaisons invite all trainees transitioning to full-time employment to join them for a presentation on fostering lasting professional success. In the first portion of the presentation, the liaisons will discuss tips and strategies to maximize wellbeing in the workplace and minimize stress. The liaisons will then share resources available to trainees who stay on as full-time employees at Kaiser Permanente. Finally, the liaisons will invite any questions about the transition to post-trainee life and share words of wisdom from their personal experiences!

Tues 8/1 at 1 PM: Chocolate Tasting and Education

All MHTP trainees are invited to attend this fun event to celebrate the end of a successful training year! The Outreach and Wellness Liaisons will invite a chocolate educator from Gourmet Boutique to lead trainees through a tasting and educational experience about chocolate. Trainees who RSVP to this event will be mailed a selection of gourmet chocolate bars to their home, to be saved for the tasting. During the event, the educator will discuss the history and origins of each chocolate bar, enlightening all attendees to many little-known facts about the world of chocolate. This has historically been the most popular wellness event of the training year, with trainees raving about the experience and some even wanting to become chocolate connoisseurs!
